Laurie Remer
Laurie joined Leadership Howard County in 2002. For over six years, she
directed the high school youth programs, Leadership U, and Youth on Board.
Laurie was instrumental in the design and launch of Leadership Essentials, a program for young professionals. She directed Leadership Essentials from 2008-2011.
In 2011, Laurie was promoted to Vice President of Programs. In this capacity, Laurie
managed program development and implementation for Leadership Premier (a
program for seasoned professionals) and provided ongoing support for Leadership U.
Laurie’s experience in leadership development began in the early 1980s. At
Providence Hospital, she implemented their management development program. At the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, she directed a national
leadership program, “The Greater Leadership Opportunities Program,” for mid-level
employees aspiring to rise to the ranks of management. At the newly created
University of Phoenix – Maryland Campus, Laurie was Campus Department Chair of
Undergraduate Business. She taught undergraduate and graduate classes to adults
returning to school and recruited, evaluated, and mentored new faculty.
Since Laurie moved to Howard County with her family over 30 years ago, she has
been an active community member. Currently, Laurie volunteers with OhanaHC as a mentor for a high school student and serves on the events committee. Laurie has
volunteered with numerous non-profit organizations, such as the Women’s Giving Circle, HC Drug-Free, and Atholton PTSA.
