Margaret Kim

Margaret Kim, President of Doctor K LLC., has worn many hats in her twenty plus years in corporate and private sector markets. Margaret was born in Washington, DC and has made Maryland her home being raised in Potomac and attending University of Maryland and Georgetown University. Margaret started her career with Tandy Corporation and after a year moved onto AT&T in a technical PC support role. From there, Margaret took on a variety of roles from product management, sales, product marketing, finance, operations, mergers and acquisitions and global market management. After over 15 years at AT&T, Margaret took a role of Vice President at CheckFree Corporation in Atlanta overseeing product management and marketing of their flagship electronic bill payment product.

After CheckFree, she decided to enter the healthcare arena with her husband Dr. Victor Kim who is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who was an ER Director at several major hospital systems on the east coast. They both opened two urgent care centers in Howard County and Margaret served as President and COO of AllCare of Maryland for over 13 years. Margaret also volunteered and immersed herself within Howard County and the state of Maryland by serving as a Commissioner on the Governor's Commission on Service & Volunteerism, chosen in January 2009 to serve as a Council member for the Maryland Council for New Americans, a Board of Trustees member for the Howard Hospital Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Howard County General Hospital (HCGH), a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, a member of the Community Relations Council for Howard County General Hospital. Margaret also served as an advisory Board of Trustees member for BB&T Bank, and a Board of Trustees member of the Howard County Arts Council.

Margaret Kim also mentored several GT Howard County High School seniors per year while she owned AllCare focusing on those students interested in pursuing studies in the medical arena. In June 2009, Margaret joined the Columbia Foundation as a Board of Trustees member in order to continue her pursuit of serving the diverse needs of the community from a health care perspective. She is also a graduate of the class of 2008 Leadership Howard County. Margaret served as a Board of Trustees member of the Domestic Violence Center, now HopeWorks of Howard County. Margaret is also a member of the EBOC (Equal Business Opportunity Commission), as well as reappointed in June of 2019 to serve on the Howard Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and was also appointed to the board of directors of Blossoms of Hope.

In June of 2020, Margaret was appointed to the Board of Directors of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School where her youngest daughter, Bridgette Kim (rising sophomore at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering), went to high school. Margaret’s latest volunteer efforts evolved from learning that her daughter Bridgette was going to become a THREAD mentor at Johns Hopkins to mentor an inner-city Baltimore student. Margaret will also volunteer as a mentor with Ohana of Howard County and both mother and daughter will be mentoring in parallel organizations at the same time. Margaret and Victor have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren and in her spare time she loves to listen to music, volunteer (Stop Human Trafficking!), and play golf with her family.
