April Martin Yi joined OhanaHC as its Executive Director and first employee in October of 2020. As Executive Director, she is responsible for the day to day operations and management of OhanaHC. Reporting to the board, she provides oversight of the committees and support for Ohana mentors and volunteers.
April brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit management and educational programming. Prior to OhanaHC, April was a director at the American Association of Medical Colleges, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit dedicated to transforming health care through innovative medical education, cutting-edge patient care and groundbreaking medical research. At AAMC she helped develop a new strategic plan to shape the direction of the organization.
From 2015-2019 she was the executive director of the Mid-Atlantic region of Out Teach. Out Teach forms multi-faceted partnerships with districts, schools and teachers to give students engaging real-world lessons and immersive outdoor learning environments.
April is a 1999 graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland University. She earned a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2002. She lives in Ellicott City with her blended family of five. She enjoys running, cooking and collecting vintage LPs.
