A Day as a Mentor

StoryMentoring

The story

One of the best parts of mentoring is getting to experience new things together.

Recently, Bryan and I spent the day in Annapolis with another OhanaHC mentor, her student, and one of Bryan’s Ohana friends. We started at the State House, where the kids explored the public rooms, asked questions, and took plenty of photos.

From there, we walked through part of the Naval Academy, grabbed lunch on Main Street, and stopped into an art gallery.

That last stop surprised me the most. The kids were genuinely interested in the art, taking their time, looking closely, and talking about what they saw.

It was a simple day out, but that’s part of what mentoring can be: sharing new experiences, spending time together, and discovering interests you might not have expected.
