OhanaHC is proud to be recognized as one of 33 programs selected for a Youth Engagement Programming (YEP!) grant in 2025.
The program supports free and low-cost youth programming in Howard County.
The grants allow community organizations like OhanaHC to develop and enhance programs offered outside traditional school hours. These programs focus on social and emotional learning, mental health and wellness, and activities.
Since the program was launched two years ago, more than 10,000 young people have engaged in free YEP! programs.
“This empowering program allows our vital community partners to provide critical services to help young people thrive. Programs encompass a wide range of interests and fields, from athletics to esports programs to agricultural education and everything in between. When we work together, we can meet our young people where they are, prepare them for a successful future, and ensure a safer and more connected community by providing positive engagement experiences for young people.”
– Calvin Ball, Howard County Executive
Recognizing rising violence, the program started in 2023 to create positive interventions. Through community partnerships, many of the organizations can expand their reach and impact.
Since the launch of YEP! grants, more than $1.5 million has been awarded to nearly 40 nonprofits.
